Executive Committee Member-At-Large The Rev. Dr. Patricia Murphy is a 21st Century Transformational Agent! She is a prolific, Orator, Mentor, Preacher and Teacher of the Gospel. She is a native of Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Murphy is the Ecclesiastical Endorser & National Coordinator of Chaplaincy & Specialized Ministries and the National Network of Chaplains. Pastoral Counselors and Specialized Ministers at American Baptist Home Mission Society/American Baptist Churches, USA, an Mentor at the RISE Lancaster Cohort and adjunct Professor of Chaplaincy at Lancaster Theological Seminary. Prior to this appointment, she was an Associate Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Jamaica Queens, NY, The Palliative Care & Protestant Chaplain, Bio Medical Ethicist, and Interim Co-Labor Relations Chair at New York Health and Hospital/Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY.; Adjunct Professor of Theology at New York Theological Seminary, New York, N.Y., Adjunct Professor of Chaplaincy at Lancaster Theological Seminary. In connection with Rev. Dr. Murphy’s experience as an Ordained American Baptist Clergy, she has a diverse servant’s portfolio that consists of: Spiritual Disaster Relief Chaplain for the Red Cross of Montgomery County, PA, RISE Lancaster Cohort Mentor, Adjunct Professor of Chaplaincy & Theology, Palliative & Hospice Care Chaplain, Youth & Young Adult Pastor, and Advocate for inner-city youth’s spiritual growth and educational goal, (a special concentration with at risk youth). Her experiences also extend to Woman Services with a specialty in traumas experienced by women, gerontology and end-of-life issues. Patricia has written numerous pieces such as: Inter-Cultural Pastoral Care, The Spirituality of Palliative Care, When the Hurts Don’t Heal, and numerous Devotionals for the 2011 and 2012 Women’s Lenten Journal and currently working on a book to be released in Fall of 2020. Page 2 Dr. Murphy’s educational credentials includes: Certification from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting; she holds an, Associates of Applied Science in Business Administration from Essex County College, Newark, New Jersey, a Bachelors of Science in Management, from Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey and a Masters of Divinity Degree at The New York Theological Seminary, New York, New York, Certification from Carolinas Healthcare Systems in Clinical Pastoral Education, Charlotte, North Carolina, Doctorate in Practical Theology from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington D.C. and Post Graduate Certificate in Bio Medical Ethics and Humanity from Cardozo Law School/Montefiore Medical Center, NY and Board Certification Certificate from the Association of Professional Chaplains. Dr. Murphy’s favorite scripture is: Psalm 34:1. In her free time she likes to cruise and share time with her family and close friends.
